
$12.3 million has been awarded for the rehabilitation of various sections on Route 430 and 430-34 (Northern Peninsula).
The road construction season is well underway in this province with close to $152 million in contracts recently being awarded for 2025-2026. A total of 49 tenders have been issued this season and, to date, 42 contracts have been awarded. This includes a $6.9 million awarded for the rehabilitation of 9.2 kilometres between Birchy Lookout to Birchy Bridge on the Trans-Canada Highway. As well, $12.3 million awarded for the rehabilitation of various sections on Route 430 and 430-34 (Northern Peninsula). The road transportation network throughout Newfoundland and Labrador includes approximately 10,000 kilometres of provincial highways and roads, as well as 1,300 bridges. Over $1.4 billion will be spent on roads in the next five years. Meanwhile, the travelling public is reminded that fines for speeding in construction zones range from $100 to $1,500.
