Former Prime Minister Jean Chretien is here for Gros Morne's 50th

    Tomorrow's events will be taking place at the Shallow Bay Day Use Area, Trout River Pond Day Use Area, and Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse.

    Everyone is invited to take part in Parks Canada’s  50th anniversary of Gros Morne National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Entry to the park tomorrow and Sunday is free. Trudy Taylor Walsh is the park’s Manager of Visitor Experience. She says tomorrow will feature “Picnic in the Park” from 2-5 pm and events will be taking place at the Shallow Bay Day Use Area, Trout River Pond Day Use Area, and Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse. Taylor-Walsh says on Sunday, Former Prime Minister Jean Chretien will attend an official ceremony starting at 2 pm at the Discovery Centre in Woody Point. She says Chretien signed the agreement  to establish Gros Morne National Park in 1973.Area communities will sign an agreement related to a regional approach to tourism for the benefit of communities in the region.
