Last July 1st, 2024, Newfoundland and Labrador commemorated the centennial of the National War Memorial in downtown St. John’s, which included the repatriation and burial of an unknown soldier from the First World War.
At Confederation Building in St. John’s yesterday, Premier Andrew Furey announced the commissioning of a new statue to pay homage to the province’s wartime legacy. It will rest next to existing statues of John Cabot and the Beothuk. Morgan MacDonald will complete the sculpture.
