Pierre Poilievre says a conservative government would axe the tax and put more money back into the pockets of taxpayers.
Progressive Conservative leadership candidate Tony Wakeham says the time for government to do something about the carbon tax was long ago. The Stephenville Port au Port MHA says the provincial government had an opportunity to oppose this right from the get go. He says gas will go up 3 cents a litre and home heating fuel will jump 17 cents per litre and with talk of Clean Fuel regulations, that will add another 4 cents a litre for gasoline.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Federal Progressive Conservatives is visiting the province today to spread his message. Pierre Poilievre says a conservative government would axe the tax. He says this tax is just the beginning as everything will go up. The carbon tax goes into effect tomorrow.
