21-year-old man charged with attempted murder after a weekend shooting in the town of Paradise

    A 21-year old man is facing charges that include attempted murder after a weekend shooting in the town of Paradise. Ashton Whelan has also been charged with numerous weapons offences, robbery, and three counts of property damage. RNC were called to a commercial area on the corner of Carlisle Drive and Topsail Road just after 2 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 17) after a number of shots had been fired. A suspect vehicle fled the area before police arrived and was recovered Monday morning abandoned in downtown St. John’s. There were no injuries but RNC say this was a targeted event and police believe other people were involved.
