    ACOA Minister talks about funding from the Atlantic Fisheries Fund, $25 million for this province

    Allen’s Fisheries is getting money for a lobster grader, mussel packaging and labelling equipment, as well as oyster grading equipment.

    Some west coast fisheries companies are getting a financial boost from both levels of government. More than $25 million dollars for 147 projects will help modernize equipment and improve quality, productivity and sustainability. Allen’s Fisheries is getting money for a lobster grader, mussel packaging and labelling equipment, as well as oyster grading equipment. Barry Group in Cox’s Cove is getting funding for a redfish scaling machine. Also, Mi’Kmaq Commercial Fisheries Ltd will  get money to buy electric lobster haulers and insulated tubs. ACOA and Rural Economic Minister Gudie Hutchings made the announcement under the Atlantic Fisheries Fund. She says the fund was established in 2017 to last 7 years with $400 million dollars available. Hutchings says the federal government pays 70 percent with the remainder covered by the province.
