Looks like Santa Claus has made an early delivery to BayFM.
The CRTC (Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission) has finally given the green light for the station to go bigger and reach more people. A new licence means BayFM can now operate a full-power station to replace the existing low-power station, CKVB-FM Corner Brook. This licence will also help allow the station to provide better service and continue to offer local programming in the community of Corner Brook and its surrounding areas.
Board Chair Kody Gardner says this means the station would still operate at 100.1 MHz but will go from 50 watts to 2,760. The format will also remain the same. Gardner says this includes 126 hours of programming per broadcast week, of which 118 hours would be devoted to local programming. Station Manager Lenny Benoit says BayFM is up to the challenge.

Testing of the new signal is expected to commence early in the new year, pending final inspection from Industry Canada.
