Former VOCM News Director Gerry Phelan met Vince in the early eighties and worked with him for more than 30 years. Phelan says while many call him a legend, Vince Gallant was a master and he taught most of us what we know today.
A broadcasting master to many journalists has passed away. Vince Gallant died suddenly on Tuesday at the age of 88. He was from Prince Edward Island but made Newfoundland his home in the seventies when he took a job with NTV News. Gallant then went to CJYQ Radio and onto VOCM until he retired in 2019.
