While the airport in Stephenville is a privately owned facility, the town’s Mayor is pleased with recent interest in the facility. Celtic Air Services issued a statement noting the airport is strategically located on the Great Circles Route, its aviation infrastructure, and its rich history. The company wants to restore the airport as a North American Tech-Stop for transatlantic flights, invest in private aviation, as well as create local employment opportunities and develop partnerships. Mayor Tom Rose says this “is welcomed news for the town and they’re happy to facilitate discussions and support initiatives, as needed.” He is hopeful this marks a positive step toward long-term sustainability and economic growth for the area.
