Mayor Jim Parsons says engineering wanted to see if it would work in the area that is traditionally known as being a shortcut.

That didn’t last for long. The city of Corner Brook installed a do not enter sign at one end of Elswick Road and a no left turn sign at the other end. Mayor Jim Parsons says engineering wanted to see if it would work in the area that is traditionally known as being a shortcut. There is an overwhelming amount of traffic in that area but the City Manager decided to have the signs removed. He says there is a traffic counter in the area. Meanwhile, the Mayor thinks construction on Mt. Bernard could also be creating more traffic in that area as well. Parsons says with the new hospital due to open next year, there will still be a time of transition before traffic levels there decrease.
