Council also approved over $202K for the Accessible Transit Software Solution for upgrades and integration of a payment solution within the On-Demand Transit app.

At Monday’s public meeting, Corner Brook  city council approved a new Code of Conduct that outlines the roles, responsibilities, and behavioral expectations of transit employees, riders, and members of the public. Councillor Charles Pender says the city is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and reliable public transit experience for all residents. As ridership grows and service expectations evolve, it is essential to establish this policy which has been developed in consultation with transit staff, City employees, and legal advisors to ensure it reflects best practices and aligns with the City's values of fairness, safety, and inclusivity.

Councillor Bill Griffin asked how this new policy will be enforced. Director of Engineering, Development and Operational Services, Donny Burden says it will be up to drivers and riders to report.

Meanwhile, council also approved over $202K for the Accessible Transit Software Solution for upgrades and integration of a payment solution within the On-Demand Transit app. Burden says this is an introduction for accessibility transit and they’re looking at expanding the on demand system into regular transit  with an end goal of having a system that works for everyone.
