Mayor Linda Chaisson says about 600 pickups out of 1400 appointments are complete and over 300 tonnes were brought to the landfill on the days the city paid tipping fees.
Spring Cleanup started May 4th in Corner Brook and will continue until May 29th. The city was separated into four sections for pickup of bulk household garbage, things like refrigerators, AC units, stoves and hot water tanks in one pile and sofas, box springs, chairs, and lawn furniture in another. On Bayfm with Lenny Bbenoit, Mayor Linda Chaisson spoke about the program and what residents dropped off at Wildcove during the week leading up to May11th. She says about 600 pickups out of 1400 appointments are complete and over 300 tonnes were brought to the landfill on the days the city paid tipping fees. Meanwhile, the Mayor says leaves can go in a clear plastic bag and then into the blue garbage can for regular curbside pickup.
