However, Jim Parsons says 50 new social housing units for the city  was welcomed news.

Corner Brook Mayor Jim Parsons says the 2024-25 provincial budget announced last week is not earth shaking and a lot of little things were announced that were already known. However, he says 50 new social housing units for the city  was welcomed news. Parsons says he can’t understand why there’s a deficit while the province is seeing an increase in revenue. He says he would have liked to see an announcement regarding a new nursing school here. Parsons says there is still work to be done before the opening of the new hospital in Corner Brook and there were no announcements about it  in what he is calling, “an election budget.”
