Tax collectors will soon be looking for owed taxes in the city of Corner Brook. Council discussed the 2024 year-end close at last night’s public meeting. The total outstanding debtors for property and business taxes amounted to $3,5m on 1054 accounts last year. On Bayfm this morning, Mayor Jim Parsons says budget wise things are okay but there are a number of businesses and property owners who are in arrears. He says while some smaller communities get help through municipal operating grants, Corner Brook relies on taxation revenue from those who live and operate here. Parsons says staff are available to work out payment plans as well.
