At last night’s public meeting, council approved a change order for transit to allow the extended service hours for Monday to Friday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., as well as Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Starting April 1st, people will be able to get a bus during the evening and on weekends in Corner Brook. He says this will be an on-demand transit service different then a conventional fixed route, much like calling for an Uber. O’Brien says the dedicated Transit phone line will be launched soon and they will monitor ridership as the service rolls out. There are two new accessible vans for the on-demand service. Just over $110K was approved for the change order which will cover the labour portion.
