Crews continue to work on a water main break in the downtown area of Corner Brook. Shortly before 4 pm on Saturday, city crews were called to the Millbrook Mall and had water shut off by 6:15pm. Then, about 20 minutes later an “unrelated” break occurred on Burke’s Road. Mayor Jim Parsons says it was shut off by 7:45 and after repairs on Sunday, water was restored to the area by 5 pm. He says a corroded valve led to a leak there, and there’s no indication the break at the Millbrook Mall was related. The Millbrook Mall break occurred on private property owned by Sterling Group and is being handled by contractors. Also, a boil water advisory for Confederation Drive is also “unrelated” and was issued due to work being done on private property that required a water shutoff.
