Elmastukwek First Nation gets funding for the East Blow Me Down Trail

    The Trail Care Program has awarded $13,750 to 11 trail care projects through community groups in this province.

    Each year, thousands of volunteers undertake projects on the Trans Canada Trail. The Trail Care grant program provides funding for these projects to improve trail sections, supporting the transition from one season to another. Chrissy Cusack is the Coordinator of Community and Volunteer Development. She says the program has awarded $13,750 to 11 trail care projects through community groups in this province. This includes  the East Blow Me Down Trail in Elmastukwek First Nation for trail clean up and tree planting. Chrissy Cusack is the Coordinator of Community and Volunteer Development. Cusack says the Trans Canada Trail is 29,500 kms long and it is growing to connect all of Canada’s coastline, 600 locally managed trail sections and 9,000 communities. In total, this year's Trail Care Grant Program awarded $248,250 to 222 community groups across the country.
