Although the weather calls for rain or showers, during the summer months forest fires are always a risk. Jeff Motty is the supervisor Forest, Insect, Disease and Fire Control. He says the weather is watched daily and there are currently 5 fires burning in Labrador and at this point, they are just being monitored since they are in remote areas. Motty says there are no active fires on the island but that can change quickly.
