People making less than  $250,000 will pay tax at the current rate, but those making more will pay more tax on capital gains.

Taxing top earners, new small and medium sized businesses incentives and a National Pharmacare Program for free contraceptives and diabetes medication are just a few of the new things in the 2024 Federal Budget. People making less than  $250,000 will pay tax at the current rate, but those making more will pay more tax on capital gains. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland tabled the document yesterday with $535 billion to be spent and a deficit of nearly $40 million. Meanwhile, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says the party will not vote in favour of this budget and he asked that the debate be adjourned. Debate in the House of Commons will continue today.
