Final change orders on Mount Bernard Reconstruction project tally more than $1.2 million

    The city Corner Brook's Director of Engineering, Aaron O’Brien says coming in at 8-10 percent higher on costs for a project this big is reasonable.

    Corner Brook city hall approved a couple of “change orders” on the Mount Bernard Avenue Reconstruction project during Monday night’s meeting. The original contract was for over just over $10.4M but change orders are ringing in at nearly $1.3M. However, Councillor Steve Perchard explains how these recent change orders have already been paid and this is a housekeeping issue. In total, there have been 36 change orders making the cost higher and is the final tally. Mayor Linda Chaisson says it was a “massive project that took over 3 years to complete.
