Lt Greg Dinney says the toy drive has been a big event for firefighters here.
Yesterday was the late Corner Brook Firefighter Gord Hamlyn’s birthday and for the second year in a row now, a special fundraiser in his honour was held at Fox’s store in Curling. Last year, over $3000 was raised for the annual toy drive. Lt Greg Dinney says the toy drive has been a big event for firefighters here. He says yesterday was the unofficial kickoff to begin fundraising to put toys under the Christmas tree for upwards of 250 local children. In November of 2023, the toy storage area was broken into and toys were destroyed. Dinney says there is a new storage venue this year. All proceeds from ice cream sales at Fox’s yesterday will be donated to the Corner Brook Fire Department Toy Drive.
