The NL Health Accord recommended an air ambulance service that could fly 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are 7 different providers and some of these can’t fly at night. Health Minister Tom Osborne says they anticipate a heavier reliance on rotary wing or helicopter air ambulances in the future. There is a helicopter pad near completion on Belle Island, and this will mean alot of people needing an ambulance when the ferry is unable to operate.
