Government and the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association (NLTA) have signed a collective agreement. The association represents approximately 6,500 educators and administrators across the province. Highlights of the agreement include a two per cent wage increase each year for the next four years, a one-time teacher recognition bonus payment of $2,000, an additional day to allow teachers to complete report cards, as well as recruitment and retention incentives. Education Minister Krista Lynn Howell says government’s “recently announced Education Accord NL will further contribute to efforts to support both educators and students in the classroom.”
