Vice president Dr. Ian Sutherland says classes are off to a good start and staff have come up with good solutions.

Grenfell Campus is into the start of the new semester and in person classes have begun. A cyber security attack struck the facility and Information technology services were taken offline on December 29th. The matter is under investigation and a cause or details are not known yet. Vice president Dr. Ian Sutherland says classes are off to a good start and staff have come up with good solutions. In person classes were delayed by a week. Sutherland says they have extra support available in the classrooms. He says the incident was contained to the campus and they’ve made a lot of progress over the past number of days. Sutherland says they have wi-fi hotspots set up, a student internet lounge at the Civic Centre, and wi-fi should be hooked up in student residences this week. He says most services are operational., including atm, and even the coffee shop on campus is open. The cyber security team is working with IT staff to find the point of entry and helping fix things but Sutherland says he’s unsure of when they will have a full report.
