A two-week campus-wide network outage will take place June 15th to the 30th to complete significant infrastructure improvement and one that will create enhanced security and network stability for the campus and the entire university.
Extensive planning has been ongoing since Grenfell Campus was struck by a cyber attack last December. A two-week campus-wide network outage will take place June 15th to the 30th to complete significant infrastructure improvement and one that will create enhanced security and network stability for the campus and the entire university. Grenfell Vice-President Dr. Ken Jacobsen says they will be installing the same network which is used at MUN and laying a foundation to buld on. Jacobsen says key services, like the Registrar’s Office, Security, and Student Housing will be open for in-person services. There will be wifi hotspots and laptops with VPN access to get on the Mun net system. Jacobsen says the cost of this infrastructure improvement is significant.
