Parsons says there will be an all day, all evening celebration. He says the Deep Gulch Project just up from Margaret Bowater Park is entering into phase three and O’Connell Drive is open to traffic.
Meanwhile, Government is reminding residents to exercise care and caution if using personal fireworks during celebrations. Only use fireworks outdoors in a clear, open area. Monitor wind strength and direction to ensure fireworks do not impact buildings, vehicles, overhead obstructions or dry brush/grass. Ensure all spectators are at least 20 metres away from the fireworks at all times. Wait 30 minutes before attempting to pick up misfired fireworks and never attempt to re-light them.
