This includes an increase to weekly provincial student loan and provincial student grant limits by 20 per cent, there will be  corresponding increases for Faculty of Medicine students at Memorial University and a 20 per cent increase to loans for out of province students.

Government has made improvements to Student Aid that will make post-secondary education more accessible. This includes an increase to weekly provincial student loan and provincial student grant limits by 20 per cent, there will be  corresponding increases for Faculty of Medicine students at Memorial University and a 20 per cent increase to loans for out of province students. These changes will allow for more students to access financial aid to support their post-secondary studies. An estimated 5,000 students accessing student aid will be impacted by these improvements to the program. The Memorial University Tuition Relief Grant will go from $345 per course to $420. There will also be a lowered program duration eligibility threshold for the NL Debt Reduction Grant Program, from 80 weeks to 60 weeks.

Applications for the 2025-26 program year are now being accepted. Students can apply for both federal and provincial financial assistance using just one application on the StudentAidNL website. Those pursuing post-secondary education in the fall are encouraged to apply early.
