Industry Minister Andrew Parsons spent some time on home turf yesterday. Last night, he spoke at the annual meeting of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Community Business Development Corporations’ (CBDCs). The meeting was held in the Minister’s hometown of Channel-Port aux Basques. He says CBDC’s have supported communities for a number of years and there is always room for growth. Minister Parsons is off to Clarenville to speak at the Newfoundland-Labrador Federation of Co-operatives Annual General Meeting this evening. He says he didn’t have a true sense of their value and importance until he started working with them. He says Cooperatives are a prime example of how NL can succeed. Minister Parsons says the biggest challenge for cooperatives is continuing to bring that message to communities that might realize this is an opportunity they haven’t considered.
