The mother of a little girl who has become a superhero in the town of Deer Lake, is amazed by the level of community support. Isla Short passed away at the tender age of two after a battle with cancer and since that time, a foundation was created that has raised $700K so far to help families in crisis. Sara Short came on Bayfm with Lenny Benoit this morning to talk about the tenth Islaview Day, whereby the town changes its name to Islaview. She says support from the community was there from the start. Short says while she continues to be amazed at the level of community support, she’s not surprised and it gets bigger every year.
Islaview events continue throughout the day and at 8:45 tonight there will be a Candlelight Ceremony at the Islaview beach.
