Pride Month is about acceptance, equality and celebrating the work of the queer community.
June is Pride Month and on this week’s edition of the Plain Truth, Host Paula Sheppard spoke about the significance of raising awareness. She says over a million Canadians identify as a member of the Pride community and it’s estimated approximately 4.5 percent of Canadians over the age of 15. identify as 2slgbtqia+.Sheppard’s guest was Quinn Jesso, who is the program facilitator with TransNL and Co-chair of the Corner Brook Bay of Islands Pride. Jesso says the group is made up of people from all walks of life and they start planning for the month in February. She says Pride Month is about acceptance, equality and celebrating the work of the queer community. Jesso says it’s also about showing people that they are not alone.
