The Mi’kmaq language is really making a comeback in parts of Newfoundland and now, people will soon have a chance at a free, online course, to learn the basics of the language. Mi’kmaq language coordinator Shane Snook joined Bayfm’s Lenny Benoit this week on Qalipu today. He says the biggest challenge with learning the language is ignoring what the word would sound like in english. Snook says once someone gets the hang of it, it’s easy to pronounce. He says if you can spell it correctly you can pronounce it correctly. Snook says classes will take place Thursday evenings from 7-9 starting February 1st at College of the North Atlantic. Classes will also be streamlined on the Qalipu First Nations facebook page.
