There’s a movement underway to start a singing group for people with Parkinson’s Disease in Corner Brook. Hannah Sparkes is a first-year medical student at MUN and has an undergraduate in Music. She says music has so many benefits for people with Parkinsons and Corner Brook does not have a singing group even though there are many around the world. Sparkes says they are partnering with Camber Arts and the Parkinson's Society of NL. The group will start in June. Sparkes says a local doctor recommended a Parkinson's Singing group and says there are a lot of people in Corner Brook with the disease. Erika Penney is a certified music therapist here in Corner Brook. She says music has many benefits and impacts the brain as well as our overall well being.
