Newfoundland Power says the issue is under investigation.
A widespread power outage hit western Newfoundland Monday evening just after 11:00 p.m.
The outage is affecting areas of the Humber Valley, Corner Brook, Gallants, Spruce Brook, George's Lake, Bay of Islands, extending to Stephenville and Port-aux-Basques.
Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro says the outage is caused by lightning.
