With 419 kms of snowmobile trails to take care of, the Western Sno-Riders club could use another groomer. He says while the snow is a welcome sight, recent rain and mild temperatures have created a challenge with grooming. They have three groomers but each one takes five days to complete assigned trails and can’t groom if it’s mild.
Green says sales on passes so far are up between 30 and 35 percent over last year’s numbers but a final tally isn’t ready yet. He says this past fall, the club started trail work to connect from Corner Brook to Pasadena after getting funding from ACOA and the provincial government. That work will start again this spring.
Meanwhile, Western Sno-Riders are working on plans for their annual “Race on the Rock,” have group rides scheduled for the upcoming Corner Brook Winter Carnival, and are partnering with Easter Seals to host another “Snowarama” during March.
