A major waterline broke Saturday evening causing localized flooding and water damage inside the mall.
A broken waterline has caused the complete closure of one of Corner Brook’s downtown malls.
The Millbrook Mall was forced to shut its doors on Saturday evening after a pipe burst near the main level entrance of the building, which caused significant water buildup in the parking lot and damage to the interior.
Despite initial hopes to re-open to shoppers on Sunday, it was not possible as repair work took longer than expected. On Sunday evening, mall manager Tammy Joyce confirmed to BayFM that the mall would also remain closed on Monday. The closure is affecting all tenants, including anchor store Shoppers Drug Mart.
The mall is planning to provide another update by Monday afternoon.
The Millbrook Mall is owned by Sterling Group, who also owns the Valley Mall.
