In front of a full public gallery, and with some objection, Corner Brook city hall has added more streets to the list of those which can be travelled using an all terrain vehicle. The City conducted a public consultation on this motion and received comments from ten people of which 3 were opposed to the added streets and 5 were in support of adding the extra streets. 3 reports are considered informational. At last night’s public meeting, Councillor Bill Griffin read the list  of streets being added for the atv season. They include West Valley Road to connect Confederation Drive to West Street,  Sunnyslope Drive, Country Road, Popular Road, and Caribou Road, to connect Lundrigan Drive to Broadway,  For the 2025 ATV season, starting May 01st, 2025, Corporal Pinksen Drive, University Avenue, and Mt. Bernard Avenue connecting Elizabeth Street area to Main Street. The Recreational Vehicle Regulation came into effect in 2019 and started as a pilot project. Councillor Vaughn Granter spoke about the economic benefit of the atv season and voted in favour of the motion. Councillor Pamela Gill spoke against the idea since she feels streets should only be travelled by vehicles. Councillor Bill Griffin says this will bring the city up to date. Deputy Mayor Linda Chaisson had concerns about school zones but was in favour of the motion. After reconsidering her position, Gill changed her mind and voted against the amendment. In the end, the motion was adopted and the regulation was amended to include the extra streets for atv usage.
