Detours and road closures in the area have been ongoing in the area for the past three years on this nearly $10.5 million dollar project. The cost is split 80/20, qualified as a regional project. Councillor Charles Pender gave an update on the project at this week’s public meeting. Work stopped just below Randolph Street for 2023. Base course asphalt was installed and reopened to traffic for winter. Work includes new underground infrastructure, curb/gutter, sidewalk (1 side) and asphalt  Approximately 80% of underground piping is complete. Meanwhile, Pender says there are several other big projects this construction season, like the Deep Gulch Brook project, which is near the intersection of O’Connell Drive and University Drive. A contract has been awarded to replace the retaining wall in Curling and work is expected to start soon. Contracts have also been awarded for intersection improvements at Elizabeth Street and O’Connell Drive, as well as work on the Curling Street storm sewer and the retaining wall on Humber Heights.
