Canada Post employees are heading back to work today after Federal Labour Minister Steve MacKinnon called a “timeout” last week. MacKinnon asked the Canada Industrial Relations Board to order the 55,000 employees back to work if a deal couldn’t be reached by the end of the year. The strike by postal workers started on November 15th and now, Canada Post is reviewing the details of the Minister of Labour's to ensure they “are prepared to fully participate in the process and comply with the Minister’s directive.” A Canada Post news release states their “commitment has always been to reach negotiated agreements with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) that would help better serve the changing needs of Canadians and provide good jobs to those who provide the service.”
