Joedy Wall says "Putting someone in a $200-a-night hotel room is not a housing solution and it’s not helping people find long-term, affordable housing. It’s not addressing the root causes of homelessness. And it’s certainly not a good use of taxpayer dollars."

The opposition’s Shadow Housing Minister is criticizing government’s failure to address the province’s ongoing housing crisis. Joedy Wall says “With at least three hotels currently being used to house individuals experiencing homelessness in our province, it’s clear that government lacks a comprehensive and sustainable housing strategy that is desperately needed.” Wall was responding to recent media reports on Corner Brook Hotel, which is being used by people with no place to live. Wall says "Putting someone in a $200-a-night hotel room is not a housing solution and it’s not helping people find long-term, affordable housing. It’s not addressing the root causes of homelessness. And it’s certainly not a good use of taxpayer dollars." Wall is calling for a provincial housing strategy that identifies and addresses the root causes of homelessness.
