Premier expects some proposals could be approved by 2025.
Premier Andrew Furey says the inclusion of wind as part of the Atlantic Accord is like the “Winds of Change.” The premier was joined by Federal Ministers in St. John’s today after yesterday’s announcement in Nova Scotia. Premier Furey says moments like these are rare and historic. He says the next step is to determine where the onshore stops and offshore begins. Premier Furey says those with proposals can now apply for an environmental assessment and bid at the same time. No development will take place in Marine Protected areas. Both levels of government are committed to reach the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
