The RNC issued over 500 tickets during Canada Road Safety Week and this included 178 in the Corner Brook Region. Cst James Cadigan says enforcement was conducted in a variety of residential areas and school zones in addition to highways and atv areas. Cadigan says they also caught a number of impaired drivers and suspended drivers in the west coast region on May 16th and the 17th. He says the highest speed recorded on the island was 162 km/hr and in that case the 20-year-old driver was caught on the East coast. A total of 23 vehicles were seized and 12 drivers had their licenses suspended.
