He says they’re hopeful targets will be more progressive. Curtis says they would also like to see a fast implementation of the cap before 2026 and that all loopholes are closed. He says the federal government is set to miss its 2030 target to cut carbon emissions by at least 40 per cent below 2005 levels. Curtis says while carbon pricing has always been a thing, it’s not fair to ask Canadians to foot the bill. He says we can’t ask people to do that and allow the biggest emitter in the country, at 27 percent and making huge profits, to not have to pay. Curtis says two recent independent polls found 7 out of 10 Canadians support the cap.
