Lark Harbour Mayor Wade Park says they applied for funding to complete the next phase of water and sewer last spring but were unsuccessful. He says it doesn’t look good for this year either.
Mayors from the south shore of the Bay of Islands met with MHA Eddie Joyce and Transportation Minister John Abbott last Wednesday to talk about issues. Lark Harbour Mayor Wade Park and York Harbour Mayor Nelson Childs brought concerns with hopes of finding solutions. Park says they applied for funding to complete the next phase of water and sewer last spring but were unsuccessful. He says it doesn’t look good for this year either. Park says the next issue is the poor road conditions in the communities and down to Bottle Cove, where busloads of tourists from cruise ships docked at the Corner Brook Port like to visit every year. He says they can’t get paving until water and sewer is complete and that project started ten years ago. Park says at this point, he doesn’t have much hope the project will be finished this year. He says the town of Lark Harbour is celebrating their 50th anniversary as a municipality this year.
