In an effort to reduce costs and cut down on waste being left out well past the collection period, this year the City of Corner Brook is making some changes to the annual spring cleanup program. From May 1st to June 6th, the City will pay for tipping fees for residents at the Wild Cove Waste Transfer Station. Residents must have proof of a Corner Brook address. Mayor Jim Parsons says the main reason for the change is the increasing cost of garbage which is about $80,000. Residents will also be given a ballot to enter a weekly draw for a $100 gas gift card. Those who drop off their waste are able to make more than one trip between May 1st to June 6th. Starting today, residents can also call 637-1666 to make an appointment for bulk garbage pick up.
