A couple of young athletes from Steady Brook are among 100 recipients of the 20th annual Premier’s Athletic Awards. Sisters Lily and Meredith Hayden were recognized for Alpine skiing and Snowboard respectively. This program recognizes athletic excellence and provides financial support to help offset the costs of training and competition. Grants ranging from $500 to $1,500 are awarded based on the level of competition and the athletes’ respective accomplishments. Lily Hayden says she loves to race and this is a special time for them. Meredith Hayden opted for snowboarding, which she says takes a lot of hard work and she has to go out of province for training. A complete list of the 2024 Premier’s Athletic Award recipients can be found on the government website.
