People can register for a hamper at the Salvation Army Citadel on O’Connell Drive starting this Friday between 10-12 and 1:30-3pm.
The 42nd Annual Gingerbread House is open at the Valley Mall in Corner Brook. Gifts can be placed inside the gingerbread house to be collected by the Salvation Army just in time for Christmas. Jean Ash is with Community and Family Services. She says this will include children from the Bay of Islands and Corner Brook area. Ash says last year they packed and delivered 365 hampers.
Ash says it’s easy to buy a toy for younger kids, but the 8-13 age groups can be tough. “Legos are big, Barbie is big this year with a comeback, kids love hoodies and gift cards,” she says. “Last year we gave all 13 years old a gift card and a food gift card.” Ash says other gift ideas include headlamp hats, gloves, and board games. She says last year, 13 year olds received gift cards. People can register for a hamper at the Salvation Army Citadel on O’Connell Drive starting this Friday between 10-12 and 1:30-3pm. This will continue each week on Wednesdays and Fridays until December 1st.
