Who would have thought it but there is another Bay of Islands and it is part of New Zealand. Described as a “subtropical micro-region known for its stunning beauty and history.” Those who love beaches and water activities, it’s a paradise. A 35 minute flight from Auckland, and you arrive in the Bay of Islands, which is made up of 144 islands. Tour operations, boutique towns, walking trails, and campgrounds are just part of the discovery. Experience a maritime adventure playground with penguins, dolphins, marlin, whales, gannets and more. Some like to gaze at the mighty Kauri tree in the subtropical rainforest.
