Fred Hutton says it’s very significant to have a solid relationship with the association with 9700 kilometres of road, 1300 bridges, and underground infrastructure to maintain.

Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Fred Hutton will bring greetings at a gala this evening as part of the Heavy Civil Association of Newfoundland and Labrador’s annual general meeting. The group represents companies in the province’s road construction, water and sewer, and heavy construction industry. Hutton says it’s very significant to have a solid relationship with the association with 9700 kilometres of road, 1300 bridges, and underground infrastructure to maintain. He says brush cutting started last year for twinning along the TCH, which is a project cost shared with the feds in the $400 million range. Last year, $280 million was spent on road work in NL. Hutton says the province is heading into the third year of a $1.4 billion dollar roads plan.
