While World Energy GH2 is waiting on government’s approval of amendments to the environmental assessment, a recent federal government announcement is being welcomed by company brass. Last week, the feds announced a $128 million dollar line of credit to support the development of Project Nujio’qonik. World Energy GH2 Managing Director and CEO, Sean Leet, says this is a strong show of support from the federal government. Once complete, Project Nujio’qonik will produce ~210,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. The company recently held drop in sessions at their Stephenville location. Leet says they had experts on hand to answer any questions. Project Nujio’qonik’s first phase will create approximately 2,200 direct construction jobs, 400 operations jobs, and 4,200 indirect jobs. Leet says they’re anxiously awaiting the approval of their environmental impact statement, which is due April 9th. Leet says once approved, it could take upwards of 4-6 weeks to get the necessary permits before they start construction.
