    Newfoundland broadcasting icon Vince Gallant passes away

    One of Newfoundland's most recognizable news voices has suddenly passed.

    Broadcasting icon Vince Gallant has passed away. A native of Price Edward Island, Gallant was known for his smooth voice and unrivaled news sense and was an influential figure in his field.

    Beginning his career in the mid-1950s, his journey saw him serving as an anchor and news director with multiple stations, including VOCM and CJON Television. He retired from VOCM just five years ago after an impressive 65-year run in radio and television. Gallant's incredible talent and legacy will continue to inspire generations of broadcasters. Gallant received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the RTDNA in 2005.

    He was 88.
